Bruxism, worn teeth & full crown replacement: comprehensive rehabilitation

The patient came to Allure Dental requesting comprehensive treatment and a full replacement of his old crowns. But the examination revealed a more serious picture: significant tooth wear caused by bruxism — up to half the crown height and more, especially in the front zone. Additionally — bite deformation due to missing posterior teeth.

This is a classic case where the patient had been postponing proper treatment for years — and with every year the problem grew. Worn teeth alter bite height, the bite affects load distribution, and the load accelerates further wear. A vicious cycle that can only be broken comprehensively.

Treatment

Stage 1 — Therapeutic preparation

Before any prosthetic work — thorough sanitation. A staged re-treatment of all teeth: endodontic treatment where necessary, replacement of all old and substandard fillings. No crown is placed on an unhealthy tooth — that is axiomatic.

Stage 2 — Full crown replacement

After the therapeutic stage — complete crown replacement, restoring the anatomical shape, correct bite height, and aesthetics. Each crown was fabricated individually: designed according to what the bite should look like after restoration — not simply "as it was before."

Result

Fully treated teeth, restored chewing function, new high-quality crowns with correct anatomy and harmonious aesthetics.

An important note from this case: bruxism did not disappear after treatment. The patient was prescribed an occlusal splint for nighttime wear. Without it, the new crowns will face the same forces as the previous ones. Managing bruxism is not a one-time procedure — it is a long-term strategy for protecting the result.
